Just A Few Things Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce Has to Offer You!


Chamber Website/E-Forum - A daily electronic account of information involving the Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce, Tourisms and Conventions Visitors Bureau, the Economic Development Council, and its members.  The website receives over 2500 visitors each day.

Chamber Forum - A monthly printed newsletter that reaches the entire area through insertion in the local newspaper on the last Thursday of each month. The newsletter includes important Chamber activities and events, Chamber committee meeting updates, business openings, expansions and celebrations, Leadership Calhoun County information and tourism updates.

Business Expo - An annual event in which over 80 local companies participate to showcase their business and products to over 3,000 customers.  The expo also includes selective seminars and a "Taste of Calhoun County" which showcases area restaurants.

Career Awareness Expo - An annual event in which 1,600 8th grade students are exposed to potential career opportunities.

SBDC/SCORE - Provides free weekly counseling for any small business in all areas of successful business development.

Entrepreneurial Education/3E - The Chamber supports the efforts of the Greenbrier Entrepreneurial Center and funded its pilot program for entrepreneurial education.  The Chamber also supports the activities of the 3E Association (economics, education, and entrepreneurship).  A member of the Chamber staff serves on the 3E Board.  

Leadership Calhoun County and Youth Leadership Calhoun County - Since 1985 Leadership Calhoun County (LCC) has provided leadership training to over 580 participants in the program.  Since 1990, over 440 11th graders have graduated from the Youth Leadership (YLCC) program.

Tourism Recognition - The Chamber's Tourism Department regularly promotes all area attractions. The tourism industry is one of Calhoun County's largest industries, employing over 2,200 people locally. 

Centennial Memorial Park -The park is the official State Veterans Memorial Park.  The Chamber has been involved in the development of the park from its inception.

Silver Lakes Region - The Chamber participates in a three-county coalition to actively promote the northeast region of the state known as the Silver Lakes Region.  Included in this promotion has been the development and financing of television commercials, magazine advertisements, and several brochures.

Montgomery Trip - Since 1990 the Chamber has sponsored this annual trip which provides the Chamber membership an opportunity to personally network with the county's local legislative delegation as well as other state officials.

Washington, DC Trip - A Chamber sponsored trip which provides key business leaders the opportunity to meet with our Congressional delegation.

TV/Radio Program - The Chamber participates in a monthly broadcast of important issues and events in Calhoun County.

Code of Ethics - Pioneered a code of ethics for the business community. 

Salute to Industry - The Chamber organizes an annual recognition of local industries and recognizes their impact on Calhoun County.

Newcomer Packet /VIP Packets - The Chamber provides up-to-date informational packets promoting Calhoun County as a good place to live, work, and visit.

Demographics - The Chamber compiles and maintains a demographic and statistical database on Calhoun County.

Directories - The Chamber publishes both an annual directory of its members and a directory of local industries.

Wage and Benefit Survey - The Chamber conducts, compiles and publishes a survey of wage rates and benefit packages of local industries. 

Retired Senior Volunteer ProgramRSVP invites adults age 55 and over to use their life experience and skills to answer the call of their neighbors.
