LIFT CALHOUN COUNTY MISSION

Lending Industry for Transformation (LIFT) CALHOUN is a program targeted at lending resources from business and industry to ensure our students, educators and administrators have the tools needed to be successful. LIFT CALHOUN will launch a pilot during the August 2021 in the Anniston City Schools system. The program will provide measurable outcomes of outreach efforts led by both business and industry, institutions of higher education, and community stakeholders in the region targeted at workforce development and education improvements.

LIFT CALHOUN COUNTY GOALS

LIFT CALHOUN is a program of the Calhoun County Area Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Center in partnership with Alabama Power Company, Anniston City Schools, the Calhoun County Economic Development Council, East Alabama Works, Gadsden State Community College, Honda Manufacturing of Alabama and Jacksonville State University. Through a collaborative approach among these partners and others, LIFT CALHOUN has identified three core components of focus – student engagement, administrative support, and infrastructure and facilities support – and will work to make sure existing programs are accessible and create new programs, initiatives, or policies identified as essential to the growth and long-term success of students, educators, and the business community.

LIFT ADOPT-A-SCHOOL (ASP) PROGRAM

The Adopt-A-School Program (ASP) of LIFT Calhoun gives the private sector an opportunity to become dynamic and strong partners in ensuring all students, educators and administrators have the tools needed to be successful. Participants will be tasked with meeting the needs of the school system by providing hands on support to cultivate a culture that enables learning to take place uninterrupted. ASP participants should serve in critical roles such as mentors for students, leadership development peers, and allies to help elevate the system in the community.

The ASP is essential to supporting the focus areas of LIFT Calhoun through lending resources to better the facilities, improve student engagement, and provide quality administrative support. Active involvement in the LIFT’s ASP can be mutually beneficial to both parties concerned. While LIFT Calhoun helps meet goals set in partnership with its schools, the adopting private entity in return strengthens corporate image and goodwill within the school
community and helps to build the next generation of workforce-ready graduates.
